Uniform Guidelines
The following uniform items: shorts, skirts, boys' pants, jumpers, and sweaters
MUST be purchased at the Carousel Shop, Flynn & O'Hara Store or the Uniform
Exchange at A.N.S. Gym shirts, sweatshirts, and sweatpants may be purchased
through the school.
PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN
Pre-K and Kindergarten students are not required to wear uniforms. Girls may
wear slacks. Gym shirts are optional. Sneakers are preferred -rubber soles are
best for daily activities.
BOYS- GRADES 1-8
Shirts: Shirts must be white, tailored with long or short sleeves and must be
tucked in at all times. No knit shirts may be worn. White turtlenecks may be
worn under the uniform shirt.
Slacks: Slacks must be navy blue.
Sweaters: The uniform sweater is a navy blue V -neck pullover with the school
emblem. The uniform athletic cardigan may be worn in grades 6 -8. No other
sweaters may be worn. Jackets, sweatshirts, etc. may not be worn in the
classroom.
Shoes: Dark colored oxfords, docksiders, or loafers with rubber soles are
required. Work boots and shoes with similar soles are not permitted.
Socks: Navy blue or white socks must be worn at all times.
(Socks must always cover the ankle-NO SPORT SOCKS ALLOWED)
Other Regulations:
1. Hair is expected to be neat and conservatively cut. No fad hairstyles or cuts
will be allowed.
2. Only plain, white T -shirts are permitted to be worn under the uniform shirt.
Colored trim or lettering on T -shirts is not acceptable.
3. One thin gold or silver chain may be worn--more than one will be considered a
violation. No wallet chains may be worn with the uniform.
4. Earrings are never permitted.
5. A correctly sized belt must be worn with winter and summer uniform.
GIRLS -GRADES 1-5
Uniform: Uniform jumpers and long or short-sleeve white blouses with peter-pan
collars are to be worn. White turtleneck shirts may be worn under the uniform
blouse.
Sweaters: The uniform sweater is a navy blue cardigan with the school emblem.
Jackets, sweatshirts, etc. may not be worn in the classroom.
Socks: Solid navy blue knee-high socks and/or navy blue opaque tights may be
worn. No ankle socks or stockings are allowed.
GIRLS -GRADES 6-8
Unifonn: The uniform is a white, tailored (long or short-sleeved) blouse which
must be tucked in at all times. It is worn with a regulation skirt and sweater
vest. Skirts may not be more than 1" above the knee. Rolled skirts will warrant
a unifonn violation.
Sweaters: Uniform sweaters are the solid, navy blue V-neck pullovers with the
school emblem, the uniform athletic cardigan, or the sleeveless sweater vest.
Jackets, sweatshirts, etc. may not be worn in the classroom.
Socks: Solid navy blue, knee-high socks and/or navy blue heavy tights may be
worn. No ankle socks or stockings are allowed.
GIRLS- GRADES 1-8
Shoes: Dark colored oxfords, docksiders, or loafers with rubber soles are
required. Work boots and shoes with similar soles are not permitted. Grades 1-3
must have shoes with buckles, ties, or velcro.
Other Regulations:
1. The only acceptable jewelry is one pair of small, button-type pierced
earrings worn in the lobes. One thin gold or silver chain may be worn-more than
one will be considered a violation.
2. Make-up including nail polish and false or acrylic nails is not permitted.
3. Hair is expected to be neat and conservatively cut. No fad hairstyles or cuts
will be allowed.
4. PLATFORM SHOES AND SHOES WITH HIGH HEELS ARE NOT PERMITTED. SHOES AND
SNEAKERS WITH SOLES HIGHER THAN 1" ARE ALSO A VIOLATION OF THE UNIFORM CODE.
GYM UNIFORM -GRADES 1-8
The gym uniform is the ANS gym shirt or sweatshirt, ANS sweatpants, and sneakers
with blue or white socks. (Socks must be worn at all times and must cover the
ankles-NO SPORT SOCKS ARE ALLOWED.) Students may wear unifonn blouses, shirts or
white turtleneck shirts under the gym shirt or sweatshirt. Gym shirts,
sweatshirts and sweatpants are ordered through the school.
No jewelry including watches may be worn on Gym Day.
UNIFORM SHORTS (OPTIONAL IN GRADES 1-8)
Monogrammed uniform shorts with the gym shirt may be worn on Gym Days when the
summer uniform is allowed. Sneakers are to be worn with the shorts on Gym Days.
Uniform shorts with regular uniform shirts or blouses may be worn on regular
class days when the summer uniform is allowed.* When shorts are worn, students
may wear sneakers or school shoes with blue or white socks, exclusive of
decorations. (Shorts may not be shorter than 4" above the knee.)
*These days will be up to the discretion of the Principal and will be announced
from the Office.
Uniform Guidelines must be followed at all times. Appropriate length and fit are
required. Disciplinary action will be taken if the uniform code is violated.
VIOLATIONS:
Grades 1-3- Continued violations will be noted on the report card.
Grades 4-8 -Students will be issued: first offense - verbal warning
second offense - uniform slip third offense - detention
