Discipline Policy

In order to encourage students to make responsible choices, we include detention as part of our discipline policy. Detention sessions are held on Friday afternoons from 2:00 until 3:00 PM. We ask that parents pick students up promptly at 3:00 PM.

Students are assigned detention for defiance, disrespect for authority, deliberate disobedience (including chewing gum), destruction of school or personal property and repeated disruptive behavior. The students are issued detention slips to be signed by the parents and returned. Detentions are issued from Friday through Thursday. In case of a holiday on Friday, detention will ordinarily be served on the preceding Thursday. Any time during the course of the year that a student has been issued a total of three detentions, the student is immediately suspended. This suspension must be served out of school and for at least one day. Any student who accumulates three suspensions will attend a mandatory meeting regarding expulsion.

Cell phones are not permitted. Any cell phone brought onto school property by a student will be confiscated and the student will be suspended for one day.

There is never an excuse for cheating, fighting or inappropriate language. The consequence for inappropriate language and fighting is immediate suspension. Cheating will result in a "0" for the assignment or test. (When a student gives homework or test answers to another student to copy, both students will receive a grade of "0" on that assignment.)

Any student who has been suspended during the school year is subject to exclusion from field trips, parties, and any other extraccurricular activities.

Archbishop Neale School has a policy of zero tolerance for violence, threats of violence, or harrassment of any kind.
